When my wife became ill, I had to find a new hobby that I could pursue indoors. I have always had an interest in art of some form or another (I previously did woodturning), and this was how my pyrography journey began.
The stone is the dominant force and inspiration in Rachael's work and different stones unconsciously produce their own particular style of work.

My ceramic work is mostly centred around the vessel form, although I also enjoy making flat wall pieces and jewellery. As an Art teacher for many years, specialising in ceramics, I find much of my inspiration came from the research that is necessary when delivering the Art GCSE and A level syllabus.
Lara says: “From my ‘Printed Stitch’ collection. I have produced a detailed embroidery and then had it screen printed onto linen. I then give each one a hand finish. I either use applique and free-stitch, or just free hand embroidery to add the pops of colour on this collection.” Free admission.
