I aim to create ephemeral sculptures that evoke feelings, memories, a sense of history and place. My current work is the result of time spent walking, drawing and intently looking at the rusting hulls and fragile jetties of Shoreham Riverbank. I combine materials found on location with paper, wire and mixed media. I try to convey a sense of lightness, and often, an impression that the work is rising up or being held aloft in space, reflecting the way my spirits lift here. My works are intentionally delicate and fragile but they are not wrecks. They are a reflection and celebration of life, and of not just surviving, but thriving.
I have produced three 5.2 m sketchbooks whilst drawing on the riverbank, each of which unfolds like a journey. Prints are currently only available of three page sections, though I hope to reproduce the books.
I have a BA Hons in Embroidery and a post grad in Mixed Media. My work is in collections in the UK and abroad. To see more of my work, please follow me on Instagram or visit my website. If you live locally you can also contact me to visit my studio at West Street Loft, West street, or come to one of our roughly bi-monthly open studio days.
