Phil Duncan graduated from the Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics course at Brighton Polytechnic in 1982. Following a career in retail management and then as a teacher of Art and Design Technology he has been working as a practicing artist since 1996 from his studios in Lewes and now in Seaford. His truly unique pieces of ceramic for the house and garden, which are all built and finished by hand, have a wide appeal that works on many levels and have, subsequently, become popular with many private collectors nationally and abroad.
Keen to promote and encourage the work of local artists Phil formed the Sussex Arts Collective in 2006 and has supported the Arts@theCrypt Gallery in Seaford since 2012 standing as chair of the management committee and the newly formed Arts@theCrypt charitable trust for three years.
