Much of my subject matter is taken from the natural and urban landscape around me, the places I have encountered. I have always been interested in buildings, their interior and architectural details, their place in the landscape and the associations we have with them
I usually begin a drawing upon a ground of dark pigment so that I can emphasise tonal contrasts and gradually lighten areas of the composition to create form and add detail. I love the atmospheric effects that a changing sky can have upon the landscape, its forms and upon us as we walk through it.
I studied a Fine Art degree in Edinburgh and since then have continued to make artwork in various mediums, mainly drawings using pastel, conte and charcoal. I have shown work as part of group exhibitions both in the Sussex area and elsewhere.
