I was brought up in Cornwall, the daughter of two potters, where my early life was heavily influenced by a wealth of local craftspeople, and the magical shapes and colours of the sea and the land. As a former graphic designer working in colour for printing, my inherent design skill translates perfectly to my glass work. Combining textures, layers and colour, I produce bold graphic patterned glasswork including dichroic jewellery, tableware and art.

Whilst on holiday St Ives, I discovered Glass Fusion by Jo Downs. At the time I had just started the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at West Dean College expecting to specialise in Oil Painting. I booked my first Glass Fusion course with Alex Robinson (now Powell) and fell in love with the medium. I gained my Diploma in 2013 and am now enjoying working in my own studio in the garden. Karen Ongley-Snook

Karen is a multi media artist who is particularly known for her colourful garden pieces, working with stained and fused glass, Jewell like colours which glow in the light, tall columns bringing structure to the garden. Her work always has a contemporary edge though she uses very traditional skills. Playing with colour and reflection , these pieces are built to withstand our British climate and look stunning in a frost.
