Roy Webb
Painting
Roy specialises in photorealistic acrylics of local scenes, and also paints detailed floral and wildlife subjects.

Roy was formerly a banker who later became the chief executive of an international banking recruitment business in London. When he retired in 2000, inspired and encouraged by a local village art group, he started to paint in watercolours but soon found that acrylics better suited him. His photorealistic style is mixed with his artistic creativity.
He paints mostly local subjects or, in some cases, scenes that evoke happy memories. Frequently he will photograph flowers from his own garden and meticulously recreates them in fine detail. He was a finalist in an International Art Magazine Competition with his depiction of a Blue Iris Germanica.
His paintings are vibrant with rich tones and textures in a realistic and detailed style paying particular attention to the direction of primary light and the shade created. His challenge is to recreate a scene that is exact in every detail yet still add his own artistic creativity. This can be a very slow process but worthwhile in the end.
