CHEEKY

I have a lifelong interest in wildlife and animal behavior and this informs most of my current work. I have travelled the world several times and never cease to be amazed by the diversity of life on our planet. I don’t want to capture a generic view of a creature, but need to delve deeper, to expose its inner personality. There should be a relationship between the creature portrayed and the human viewing it. I paint fairly intuitively in acrylic, but my work is based on close…

Eleonora Medwell

My name is Eleonora Medwell, and I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Ukraine and have lived in Worthing, West Sussex, UK since 2005 with my husband Kenneth Medwell. I loved to draw when I was a child but painting became my passion just three years ago, when I started to paint nearly every day.  I inspired by the beauty of nature, people’s faces, mixed media and art works of other artists. I get inspiration from the nature, faces, mixed media and art works of other artist…

Fragments. Abstract depicting how when many things work towards a whole.

Painting is the language I use to express myself. As a creative activity, it is the most absorbing. I paint with acrylics but rarely use a brush. Fingers, sticks and the fine edge of card, give me the instant results and texture I’m looking for. My topics vary depending on circumstances. I am inspired by colour, architecture and landscape and have recently been developing abstract images. I have exhibited my work in various Open Houses throughout Brighton. I took part in The…

Jules Wheeler

Having dabbled unconvincingly for a few years, I started painting in earnest in 2018 when I took a part time adult learning course. I discovered I had a little talent and a lot of passion so have continued from there. Starting off with acrylics, I took the leap into oils a few months ago and absolutely love them. I am still experimenting a lot and discovering myself as an artist, but I really enjoy portraits and unusual close ups.

Tipping Point

I paint plein air Landscapes, Sacred-scapes and saucy little “Willendorfs” based on the Paleolithic Venus figurine.

‘Nightwatch’ watercolour

Creating a 2D image of a 3D subject can be frustrating and torturous as often as it is satisfying and joyous, but what I love about it is that it is always totally absorbing. You will see from my work that I enjoy different subject matter as well as different mediums and styles. I find that different mediums suit different subjects, and switching between all these things keeps the work spontaneous and fresh-for me as well as, I hope, for those viewing it. I am passionate abou…

Darcie, Oil paint on Canvas

My work as an artist falls within the mediums of paint and drawing. I am an emotional artist and all of my work is from an emotional experience. I like to romanticise my work and create work to be pleasing to the eye. However I do touch upon Surrealism when an event has created a change within my emotional state which compels myself to capture this within art. Working within the boundaries of Realism I flourish and my creative mind likes to explore the world around us, photog…

Big red pepper

After leaving school i went to Worthing Art College from there i went to Newport Art College in South Wales where i studied Graphics/Illustration which i really loved. Our teaching was based on really looking and seeing in order to be able to draw really well.   I loved the process of Litho while i was there and although this was difficult to pursue when not at college i have done a course of this taught by a friend at North Star Studios in Brighton. At that time i was doing…

Sue Hawksworth

I have long been inspired by the effect man and nature have on the landscape. Light and shadow play an important part in my work enabling the pattern and form of the landscape to be revealed. I have explored these themes in a range of media including monoprint and collograph. I enjoy working with different materials and processes, and the flexibility of mixing media enables me to explore more abstract forms. Recently, I have been making drawings of ruined buildings, including…

Sea Spray pastel

The underlying theme in my work is the relationship between past and present: pathways and markers that delineate the landscape;  cities revealing their memories in shadows and decay. Places named in a different age –dislocated now from their origins. Stolen meanings and associations with art from the past. A dynamic exchange with ancient sites and artefacts. Much of my work originates in Cornwall and I am represented there at the Riverbank Gallery in Newlyn. I also work as a…

Worthing Beach

Painting is my way of expressing feelings about places, people and personal thoughts that are difficult to put in words. I am fascinated by the human story, our diversity, journeys and dreams. Spontaneous mark-making releases images from my subconscious and imagination, creating semi-abstracts with atmospheres populated by fragments of memory or universal myths. I enjoy drawing from life and creating reflections of landscapes, illuminated by light, impressions of scenes withi…
