Stained glass

I work with lead and copperfoil in making stained glass for domestic doors and windows and free-standing designs that work more as sculptures for both indoor and outdoor/garden spaces. I also play with decorative ideas in making smaller items such as candelholders, hangings, standing birds and Christmas decorations.

I started making leaded windows in 2006 and studied traditional painting techniques under Sue Wallis in Shoreham, Ruth Adams in Bristol and Nicola Kantorowicz in Oxfordshire. I have exhibited in Brighton & Hove Artists Open Houses and the Adur Art Trail.

Recently, I have been living in Jersey in the Channel Islands and working in the grounds at Durrell/Jersey Zoo. Every day, being around the animals and birds that are part of their conservation programmes has inspired me. In response, I have been making glass mosaic pieces and painted glass designs.

Working with glass and designing with colour, line and texture is stimulating and challenging. Every piece presents new problems that I have to solve and therein lies the personal involvement and creative thinking that makes me committed to this art form.
