The Montague Gallery in Worthing is currently displaying and selling artwork that has been created by Adur Art Collective artist Naomi Frances.
Naomi makes sculptural glass landscapes and beach scenes using a collage of found items from the local beaches and semi-precious stones. Her aim is to make her glass work and her images as textural as possible, combining the physical world with the imagined. Since the subjects of her work tends to live outside, Naomi has been making some larger scale pieces for the garden.
Naomi creates illustrations on found papers, like old books and train tickets, and likes to work on weathered surfaces, like wood, tin cans, slate and anything that she finds on the street or beach. If it’s not weathered by nature she will texture it herself. Naomi uses a kind of wet sgraffito technique with acrylic primer and oil bar.
Naomi also teaches stained glass at Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (Formerly Northbrook College) Please check her website for further details.
