News, courses and interesting stuff! – by Katie Sollohub

Lying down is an important part of my practice

I am settling into my new studio space in central Shoreham, even though it seems I barely have time to get there, with my ongoing commitment to the Strawberry Hill House residency, regular teaching and exciting one off courses. It is, though, a space to call my own, a private place where I can shut the door on everything else, and it is a place where I can dream. Sometimes I may just have an hour to spare, and if I am tired, I just go there to lie down.

If you like lying down whilst drawing, why not sign up for the new Gestural Drawing short course at Seawhite this summer, working on paper so large that it covers the floor and walls and you need your whole body to get involved. With Spring almost in the air, Grounded is a similarly physical course, going down to the woods to gather mud and moss to make marks. Perhaps a bit of lying down on the beach is more your cup of tea – there are still places on the Portugal Sketchbook Course in June. Or you can wait until September for a 3 day retreat at Sussex Prairie Gardens. Information for all of these below.
