Escorpi is like liquid caught in a moment.
Inspired by sea creatures modern and prehistoric, that might be found in the strata off the Sussex coast in southern England. Once the shape has become what it wanted to be the copper was cleaned then an organic patina as applied using a fume bath of ammonia and table salt, with a considered application of Cornish sea salt, English Mustard and chili sauce.
Made from the 0.55mm copper sheet using fold-forming, sinking and raising hammering techniques. The shapes were created by an amalgamation of the techniques applied by the artist and the resulting shapes that could be persuaded from the metal when it was hand-manipulated.
