Mixed media artist Ray Burns will be exhibiting his work at Shoreham Art Gallery in January 2020.
“I studied art at secondary school, studied art at college and then received a Bachelor of Art degree in crafts, to all intents and purposes you could say art runs in my blood. It certainly wasn’t inherited as neither of my parents could muster little more than colour between the lines in a bumper book of colouring pages.
I have worked in several schools over the past 10 years. I completed a PCGE in secondary education in 2012 through which I obtained Qualified Teacher Status. Previously I completed a PGCE for Further Education in 2008 and I have a BA in Three Dimensional Crafts from Brighton University. I chose a career in secondary education following my role as communications assistant at a specialist SEND unit and then taught Art and Design full time.
To relax I work from my studio creating stencil art, lino-printing, painting, write short stories and create miniature sculptures from found objects in my spare time. I suppose I write as an outlet for my creativity, I’m not interested in fame and fortune. What I would like though is to share my work with others.”
