Winter Art Show announced by Brighton & Hove Arts Council

Despite the current difficulties facing the creative industries, Brighton & Hove Arts Council is pleased to announce a Winter Art Show, to be held online from 16th November until 13th December.

Jane Osler, Chair of Brighton & Hove Arts Council said:

‘Our popular annual Spring Art Show, due to take place in April, was sadly another casualty of the pandemic. However, we are delighted to be running an online show. Artists from eight of our art groups are exhibiting their work, which can be viewed at

 Brighton & Hove Arts Council has been at the heart of the not-for-profit arts community since 1974. We are a registered charity, completely staffed by volunteers, who have all been working hard to ensure that this year’s exhibition is a real success.’

The Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Alan Robins, will join a Judging Panel to select BHAC’s ‘Artist of the Year’. He will choose a winner from the artists exhibiting in the show along with fellow judges: Andrew Comben, Chief Executive of Brighton Dome and Festival; Jane Hopkin, Chair of Arts Society East Sussex; Karin Janzon, Project Director Hove Plinth, Hove Civic Society; Mary McKean, this year’s winner of the BHAC Contribution to the Arts Award and Chair of The Regency Society and Strings Attached; Colin McKenzie, former Director of the House of Illustration and The Charleston Trust.

The winner will be announced on our website and on social media on Monday 14th December.

Art works are being provided by the following groups, who are all members of Brighton & Hove Arts Council: Adur Art Collective, Attic Art Club, Dupont Art Club, Embroiderers Guild, Rottingdean Art Club, St Thomas More Art Group, Society of Catholic Artists, Society of Sussex Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers
